Planning permission and building regulations approval for rear extension and home office 

Client Brief: to increase family living space with a contemporary rear extension. The client wanted to create an “outside-inside” feel whilst opening up the property to enjoy unobstructed sea views of Preston beach, Weymouth. The project also included the addition of a home office on the first floor. 

Design Solution: a single-story rear extension with floor to ceiling sliding glass doors opening to expose 2/3 of the areas to the outside garden area. Clad in untreated oak with a floor to ceiling window giving light to the reading room at the far end of the extension. 
A curved office pod, clad in oak  matched the contemporary rear extension and was a creative response to the challenge of the office pod structure not obscuring the neighbour’s sea views. 

Client Review: “We are delighted with the extension Neil worked with us to design. He listened to our ideas/needs and created more useable space, brought in more light, and added a host of design features we cannot imagine being without!”
