Planning permission and building regulations for visitor café, offices & yoga studio  

Client Brief: With the River Frome running through its grounds, Sculptures by the Lakes is a haven of peace & tranquillity, set in one of the most beautiful settings in Dorset. The client wanted to enhance the visitor experience by extending the food & beverage offering with a stylish café and kitchen. Improving the office reception space and visitor toilets was also a key requirement.  

With peace & tranquillity at the heart of the venue’s offering, the client also wanted to extend the offering of this venue to include a yoga retreat that could also double up as a wedding venue. 

Design Solution: to provide room for a kitchen and visitor café we converted an existing gallery area and extended the property. A traditional style was maintained to complement the main building 
For the offices, we created a more contemporary look using cedar cladding and extended the customer toilet facilities.  

Yoga Studio/The Retreat: A stunning, 1-storey, contemporary cedar-clad building situated on the banks of the River Frome. The design included sliding doors into a pocket to deliver an ‘outside-in” feel and stunning views of the water.
